Reiki (Pronounced “RAY-key”) is a Japanese word that means “universal life energy.” A form of holistic healing which originated in Japan, founder Mikao Usui described Reiki as “the Secret Art of Inviting Happiness, the miraculous medicine of all diseases”.

Reiki is a safe, gentle and amazingly effective hands-on relaxation technique that promotes healing. It is a way of magnifying the healing energy of the hands. Reiki works to compliment traditional medical care by using the same kind of non-physical “ki” energy martial artists use to nourish the body’s health and vitality.

I always begin with a cutaway to remove any stress of the day.  We will discuss the reason you wanted Reiki, and set an intention. Then it’s time to check the balance of the aura and sweep it clean.  The majority of your session is spent charging you with Reiki by beaming with my hands (during the pandemic) or laying on of hands when it’s safe again. I finish with sealing your aura.

For short sessions such as the Reiki Aura Cleanse, you would be seated comfortably in a chair. For sessions 30 minutes or longer we would use a massage table and have you lay on your back to begin, then on your front to finish.

Reiki does not replace the care provided by health care professionals, it complements it. You are strongly encouraged to continue seeing your health care providers and following their recommendations in conjunction with Reiki treatments. 

Training to become a Reiki Master begins with taking Reiki level I and II. Many people find that this is all they need to practice Reiki effectively. To become a Reiki Master Teacher involves taking a Reiki III workshop and fulfilling all requirements for hands on experience. My Reiki Master had me do six months of weekly reiki shares as well assisting her with Reiki I & II training classes.

The first thing that happens is I ask you the reason you want a reading. You may have a particular issue in mind, or just want a general reading. Then I shuffle the cards and lay them out while describing the cards, focusing on our discussion. We always look at the past, present and future as the cards reveal your story. During the reading I check in with you to make sure that what I’m describing is clear to you. Using my skills as a Reiki Master lets me get a feel for the flow of energy, and I rely on my guardians and guides as well to check in to see if there is anything that requires additional focus. 

When the reading is complete we review what the past has taught you, and how to take action for the best possible future. This is your reading and it is about you, and discovering your path and potential.

The readings start out the same, with finding out your question and setting the intention for the reading. Though Tarot decks can vary based on the theme or artwork, they all have the same underlying structure. Four suits for the Minor Arcana representing your mental, emotional, energetic, and physical life, and the Major Arcana representing major life archetypes and events that we all encounter during our lives.

The Faeries’ Oracle deck by Brian Froud is a highly energetic deck that connects with Otherworld beings and spiritual entities. It is a great choice if you are drawn to that realm or are on a visionary path. The Tarot is great for that too, but adds in more for the practical day to day through the Minor Arcana. 

You choose the deck you want for your reading, it’s your opportunity to connect to the cards energetically, so they know that you are ready to hear what they have to say.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, I am not currently doing any in-person events other than my regular readings at Eye of Horus Metaphysical. I am open to the possibility of online events, and I can certainly do classes online.
