Tonight I vegged out in front of the TV. It’s been a long time since I’ve done that, and after tackling bills last night, it was a welcome retreat. But when I think about it, it wasn’t as much of a retreat as I hoped it would be. What I need is a really good book to get caught up in, that way I can still use my imagination instead of leaving that to the TV producers. One thing was actually recommended to me was to stop watching television for a while to improve my ability to visualize. It’s true that the less TV I watch, the more my inner landscape shows me during my meditations. Lately I’ve been looking to my Hara and it’s like a Crystal Ball vision of the world within. Farther up and further in as C.S. Lewis wrote in his final installment of the Chronicles of Narnia. It’s time for my to turn off the TV and turn on my Hara!
Very good point! The same goes for children doesn’t it? The television is not a babysitting and children are able to entertain themselves using their imaginations still. 🙂 Peace.
